Sunrise by Ryan Parker

Purple skies on a crisp day

The cool breeze bellows blissfully

A chill creeps down my spine

Goosebumps arise on my now pale skin

Memories flow like the river, once mighty and strong, now frozen over

A magenta sunrise shines off the icicles, gleaming and glittering

I see my face reflected in the frozen lake

I’ve grown older, wiser, much like the pine tree that towers over me

The sunrise brings a new day, the sun shining on the snow

Just as soon as it rises, the sun sets

The days grow shorter, as the winter lingers

I treasure the sunlight, and I enjoy the little time I have to take in the beauty of this frozen forest
